STEWARTVILLE, Minn. — Law enforcement officers responded to a school campus in southeastern Minnesota on Friday morning after a shooting was reported.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were at Stewartville High School and Stewartville Middle School, about 10 miles south of Rochester. Classes were canceled for the day.
Superintendent Belinda Selfors said in a social media post that the shooting occurred in a school parking lot at about 5 a.m. Friday. No additional details were released.
Authorities have not said whether anyone was injured. Officials emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to students, staff or the public.
The district also canceled Friday night’s basketball game against Lourdes.
Selfors thanked families for their patience and asked the community to keep students, staff and residents in their thoughts.
Officials said they expect to release more information at a news conference later Friday morning.
